Join artist Jordan Casteel and curator-writer Legacy Russell for a conversation celebrating the release of Jordan Casteel, the first major monograph on one of the most acclaimed painters of her generation.
Casteel is known for her large-scale, expressive portraits and landscapes that honor everyday encounters and shared humanity. The book brings together nearly 150 vivid reproductions, tracing her journey from the streets of Harlem to the woodlands of Upstate New York, and includes contributions from Legacy Russell and others.
Russell, Executive Director and Chief Curator of The Kitchen and author of Glitch Feminism and BLACK MEME, joins Casteel to discuss community, portraiture, and the artist’s evolving practice.
